How active is your faith? How aggressive is your faith? In 1 Corinthians 12:9 and Ephesians 6:16, the Holy Spirit gives us two specific tools of faith. The gift of faith and the shield of faith. Faith is the action of living out a belief. You can know something is true, but it's not faith until you invest your life in it. Then there is the bulldozer faith. Faith that makes things happen. Bulldozer faith is what I call the kind of faith that comes from the gift of faith and the shield of faith. It comes from knowing God's own faithfulness. The gift of faith is that abiding presence of God that brings you thru that impossible situation. It delivers that impossible break-though that other people have given up on a long time ago. It's connecting with a promise from God and holding on to it.
The Shield of Faith is the kind of faith that says to: doubt, discouragement and circumstances, "You get out of my way, because I'm pushing forward whether you move or not". In historical warfare, the shield was not merely a passive piece of protective armor. It was as much a weapon as the sword, not only to protect yourself but also for knocking enemies aside and even flat on their back. The Holy Spirit gives us faith not only for salvation, but to live an abundant Christian life when our faith is in God's faithfulness. We walk by faith, not by sight. However, walking by faith is sight. It's seeing the bridge God made even if and when no one else does!
